A (very discreet) drinks cabinet
We made this effortlessly simple-looking fitted cabinet for a returning customer in Whitstable, Kent in 2022. It’s not only built to hold the odd bottle for a cooling G&T, there’s space inside also to accommodate our client’s room fan – just in case the drink alone doesn’t do the trick!
Our client had a very clear idea of the design she was looking for and we realised it for her from her own sketch. She wanted a quality piece of furniture with a simple design, and we responded with a solid wood construction throughout in tulipwood and old pine.
With such a subtle design, details matter all the more.
We step profiled the top to provide interest; the door is fitted with specialist, high quality solid brass ironmongery from Willow and Stone and the woodwork is brushed by hand for a softer, more traditional feel. Cable access for the client’s table lamp is provided through an adapted solid wood cable management sleeve, carefully recessed into the top and sanded flush to ensure the lamp sits above it on a perfectly flat surface.
